This is one of those few moments and I highly suggest giving it a listen on good headphones with your eyes closed so you can take in the entire scope of sound. I usually reserve my 9 and 10 star ratings for music composed as a standalone album (Not an OST) but every once and a while a soundtrack burns to the surface and leaves a deep impression. My suggestion is to give it a few weeks after seeing the movie and listen to it again fresh. I think the main gripe comes from it working SO well with the movie that as a standalone something feels lost to the listener. The music is emotionally charged while remaining subdued and i for one enjoy the trip down memory lane it imbues me with. The music is epic in scope and utilizes fat synths, retro in nature and maintaining a modern daft punkish appeal. Yeah Morrowind's theme has become the 'elder scrolls' theme now, much like how the opening track to ff1 became the main theme of final fantasy. The same thing has been said about Trons soundtrack (original and remake). Morrowind's theme track for me is the best, but Oblivion has a better score overall.
